At Critical-Thinkers.com, we’ve been beating the drum about the importance of critical thinking skills training for over 4 years now. While schools and universities now almost universally tout their focus on building critical thinking skills of students, employers are still reporting a major skills deficit for new workers entering the marketplace.
The situation is so dire that employers rated only 28% of 4-year college graduates as having “excellent” critical thinking skills. And those same employers rated 0% of high school grads as having “excellent” critical thinking skills.
Knowing that this massive skills gap costs employers millions per year, it encourages me to see the infographic below by University of Phoenix. It not only acknowledges the key skills needed for success in the workplace (including critical thinking) but it offers students suggestions for how to build those skills.
